Weather watches, warnings are serious

This past weekend’s storms served as another reminder to take the warnings and watches issued by local law enforcement and the National Weather Service seriously and to exercise additional caution during that time period.
Oftentimes, people take the possibility of severe weather with a grain of salt.
This time, it was a flash flood warning, and as predicted, flooding popped up throughout Dallas County. Although warning of flash floods were issued, there were still people who did not take the necessary precautions.
There are also plenty of businesses that shut down operations after analyzing the situation, such as The Tin Cup, who halted business operations as soon as they saw water levels were unsafe.
However, there are plenty of people who choose to take warnings lightly, even with tornadoes.
The meteorologists and local officials have been proven right many times before, and we should keep that in mind.
The flash floods show that preparation is integral. The storms and floods may have only caused property damage and lost production, but it is always better to be safe than sorry. Thank you to all responsible for providing reliable information.
