We’re glad to see city leaders coming together with event organizers to make events such as the Bridge Crossing Jubilee work, but we hope that support extends further to other events, such as the Battle of Selma or others that have fallen by the wayside.

We hope the Selma City Council will honor its motion it made last week to support the Battle of Selma just as much as it is supporting the Bridge Crossing Jubilee. Both events highlight historic moments in our city’s history, and both deserve to be showcased here in Selma. We hope to see city leaders reach across the table to Battle of Selma organizers and help bring the event back.
