EDITORIAL: Festival will remain on Selmont side of Edmund Pettus Bridge

Last year, city leaders and Bridge Crossing Jubilee organizers went back and forth about paying thousands of dollars for city services. This year, there won’t be any drama when it comes to the Jubilee.

Organizers have decided to hold it on the Selmont side of the Edmund Pettus Bridge, which is where it was moved to last year. Sam Walker, one of the event’s organizers, said the dispute led to confusion over the Jubilee, but this year they won’t have to worry about that. There is no doubt the festival will take place.

We’re glad there is no drama between the city and Jubilee organizers this year, and we hope in the future they can work together to showcase Selma and its history.
