Selma City Councilman Sam Randolph is partnering up with The Guys and Girls Social Savings Club to host a clothing giveaway.
The event is being hosted in the parking lot of the Family Dollar located on 1007 Broad Street. The giveaway begins 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan 27.
The clothing giveaway is aimed at giving back to the community now that the holiday season is over.
According to Randolph, after Christmas is a good time to host these giveaways because people tend to buy more clothes or receive them as gifts. He says it makes for a good opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life.
“We do this so other people don’t have to worry about winter clothing such as jackets or shirts,” Randolph said. “We want everyone to come out and give back to the community.
Randolph encourages residents of Selma and the surrounding area to donate whatever they can spare to give to someone in need.
The last time Randolph hosted an event like this more than 150 people received aid as a result of Selma’s hospitality. This time, he says, he wants it to be even larger.
Those interested in donating clothing towards the Saturday giveaway may send them to 2001 Broad Street or call Randolph at (334) 349-2004.
Hamburgers, hot dogs and other refreshments will be available as well.
