Crash involving ambulance shuts down Alabama Highway 22 North

A multi-vehicle accident involving an ambulance and a semi-truck on Alabama Highway 22 North shut down traffic Thursday evening for a few hours.
According to Corporal Jess Thornton with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash happened around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Alabama Highway 22 North and Dallas County Road 81.
Thornton said the crash involved a pick-up truck, a Care Ambulance unit and a tractor trailer.
All lanes of traffic were blocked while first responders worked the crash, according to Thornton.
Police scanner traffic indicated at least two air evacuations were called in to respond to the scene.
Dallas County Coroner Alan Dailey said around 6:45 p.m. there were no fatalities on the scene at the time of the accident.
It is unclear how many people were involved in the accident and the extent of their injuries.
Alabama Highway 22 North was still shut down as of 7:15 p.m., according to the Selma ALEA Post.
Drivers reported on Facebook that traffic was backed up to inside Selma city limits.
No other details have been released at this time. The accident is still under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
