Selma man killed in Lowndes County single-vehicle crash

A 42-year-old Selma man was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle accident in Lowndes County.

According to Corporal Jess Thornton with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Anthony Fitzgerald Watts was killed around 6:30 p.m. when he was ejected from his vehicle.

Thornton said the 1995 Buick Regal Watts was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned, ejecting Watts, who was not wearing a seat belt, from the vehicle.

Watts was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash happened on U.S. Highway 80 near the 109-mile marker, which is approximately five miles west of Hayneville.

Thornton said no other information on the crash is available. The accident remains under investigation.
