Neighbors, security cameras help police catch burglar

A Selma teenager was arrested Thursday for allegedly burglarizing a home on Second Avenue.
The 16-year-old was charged with third-degree burglary and is being held at the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center.
According to a press release from Sgt. Ray Blanks with the Selma Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, the burglary happened around 1:38 p.m. on the 800 block of Second Avenue.
The burglary was witnessed by neighbors and also caught on camera.
Blanks said detectives responded to the scene and interviewed witnesses.
Blanks said detectives were also able to retrieve video footage from the victim’s home that shows the teenager breaking into the residence.
The victim, who is 72 years old, was not home at the time of the burglary. The name of the juvenile is not being released.
