Gregory Charles Davis, 57, of College Park, Georgia, was pronounced deceased on Oct. 22, 2017, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Greg was born in Selma on Sept. 2, 1960, to Lucille Brock Smith and Will Davis. He received his formal education through the Selma City Public School System, with extracurricular activities in Boy Scouts of America and ROTC. After high school, he worked for several years at Otey Crisman Golf Company. He then moved to Atlanta for opportunities in restaurant and food services management. Greg later drove as a professional truck driver for various companies over the years, eventually operating his own truck.
Known to friends as Fly Guy, Greg loved music, clothes and spending time with family and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Will; as well as his sister, Sandra Smith Furlow. He is survived by four siblings, Eugene Smith Jr, Wesley Smith, Adra Walton and Angela (Tony) Rogers; and brother-in-law, Ricky Furlow. Survivors also include several treasured nieces and nephews, Schnavia (Allan) Hatcher, Sharada Smith, Desiree Rogers, Tony Rogers II, Sharod Martin, Rodney Martin and Rashod Martin; a beloved grand niece, Lauren Hatcher; and special cousins, Dorothy Crum and Marva Brock. Greg also leaves behind a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Ashley’s J. H. Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, from 5-6 p.m. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Morning Star Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Joseph Coleman, pastor of St. Paul Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ashley’s J H Williams and Sons Funeral Service. Pallbearers and Flower Bearers will be friends and family.
Greg accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. We celebrate his life and will forever feel his presence.
