Old Cahawba Archaeological Park held a ground breaking ceremony Monday where they announced a new gated entrance will be built. The gate will not only spruce the place up at it’s entrance, it will also provide a means of security  for the park.

During the ceremony, the Ala-Tom Resource Conservation and Development Council presented a $30,000 check to The Cahaba Foundation.

We are happy to see so many people attending the event and giving to back a place where there is so much history. Alabama’s bicentennial is coming up in a couple of years, and more people are sure to check out the states first capital at Cahawba, so it’s nice to know that they are working to improve the look of the park.
