EDITORIAL: Rally helps build bond with police, firemen

The Selma Police and Fire Departments handed out 1,500 book bags filled with school supplies at the city’s river rally Saturday.
The rally was a way to bring children and the community together with the people that risk their lives to protect the city, whether it is from crime or fires.
It is great to see the departments and the city making an effort to strengthen the relationships between police and firemen and the public.
They are often seen when something bad is happening, so it is good to give the community a chance to meet them and talk to them in a different environment.
