The Rev. Herman L. Whitt Sr., 59, of Selma, passed away July 20, 2017, at South Hampton Nursing Facility in Huntsville.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle of Praise Church with the Rev. Dwight Woods officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Randall Miller Funeral Service directing.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Jean Jones-Whitt; father figure, Andrew Shears; five sons, Kenjl Jones, Robert Lee Jones, Herman (Tamara) L. Whitt Jr., Jeremiah Whitt and Courtney Whitt; three daughters, Lakedrinn (Christopher) Jones-Norwood, Shikia (Charles) Jones-Rogers and Rowena M. Whitt; sister, Laura Ann Whitt; two special aunts, Roberta Sturdivant and Betty Whitt-Oden; special niece, Pamela D. Whitt; special nephew, Fredrick L. Whitt Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; mother-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
