Concordia College Alabama is anticipating an increase in its enrollment for the fall semester.

According to the school, the expected increase is due to the amount of applications coming in from prospective students.

“The college has already more than doubled the amount of applications received in previous years and continues to enroll students on a daily basis,” a press release from the school stated.

The release states the school just completed its “highest enrolled summer term.

Dexter Jackson, the chief operating officer and vice president for business and fiscal affairs for the college, declined Thursday to discuss enrollment data from previous years.

According to the school, there was an aggressive recruitment strategy implemented by the school’s director of recruitment, Norman Richards that led to the increase in the amount of applications.

“This year, we took recruitment to another level by recruiting throughout the entire state of Alabama and adding six additional states [to our recruiting schedule],” Richards said in the release. “We also became more visible in the community by forming better relationships with local schools as well as city and state officials.”

According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, a federal entity that collects education data in the United States, Concordia College Alabama had an enrollment of 340 students for the fall 2016 semester.

The college also announced the addition of three new programs available for students to take this fall. The school is adding programs for students looking to earn a bachelor’s degree in educational studies and recreational sports, as well as liberal studies.

Jackson said the school would provide more information about enrollment numbers after the start of the fall semester.

New student orientation is scheduled to begin Aug. 6, and the fall semester officially begins Sunday, Aug. 13 with an opening convocation in the Jenkins Center Gymnasium at 3 p.m.

Early registration is currently ongoing through Aug. 18. For more information, visit www.ccal.edu.
