Horace Brown Sr.

Horace Brown Sr., 75, of Selma, was called home to the Lord on July 12, 2017, at Vaughn Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Brown was born in Selma on Nov. 5, 1941. Known to be a man of strength and courage, he successfully ran the family farm business until his retirement in 1998.
He was preceded in his eternal transition by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Brown; and his sons, Horace Brown Jr. and Brandon Brown.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly Brown Owens (Condredge); daughter-in law, Frances Brown Brantley (Darryl); an adopted son-in Christ, Buster Grayson; his devoted sisters, Cora Brown of Tuscaloosa, Dorothy DaVault of Pensacola, Florida, and Carolyn Turner (Herman) of Selma; devoted brothers, James Brown (Sherry) of Jacksonville, Florida, David Miller (Cynthia) of Chicago, Illinois, Herman Watts (Rosemary) of Selma, Leon Brown of Pensacola, Florida, and Gregory Houston of Orlando, Florida; his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life, Horace Rashod Brown, Davian Brantley, Connor Owens, Cade Owens and Hayley Owens; one beautiful great-granddaughter, Reagan Mckenzie Brown; sisters-in-law Constance Alexander (Anthony) of Birmingham and Davenia Godfrey (Arthur) of Birmingham; goddaughter, Justine Maxwell; a devoted caretaker, Alfred Irby; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Services are scheduled for July 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Selma with minister Tracey Shannon of Shiloh Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Brown’s Family Cemetery, directed by Randall Miller Funeral Home.
