Reporting crimes can help sheriff’s and police departments solve crimes

While a lot of crimes that happen in Dallas County and Selma are reported, many go unreported to law enforcement.
If something is seen and not reported, the authorities can’t do anything about it. It’s an issue both the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department and the Selma Police Department face. Without the intelligence from citizens that see a crime happen, they cannot investigate unless they saw it themselves.
We encourage anyone that sees a crime committed to report it by calling 911 and reporting it or filing a police report.
The more knowledge law enforcement has one a crime, the more likely they are to solve it. When no one is willing to say what they saw or what they heard, it makes it difficult for them to do their job. This is a constant issue both departments deal with on a daily basis. Sheriff’s deputies and police officers need the community’s help. That way they can do their job and make our county and city a safer place to live.
