Rib off delivers with good food, lots of fun

The Rock ‘n’ Ribs benefit fundraiser was held at Lions Fair Park Saturday as a way to raise money for the Black Belt Benefit Group’s Grow Selma garden.
Based on some of the feedback we’ve heard, the event was a big success. Twelve teams took part in the actual rib cooking competition, while everyone else walked around, enjoyed being out on a beautiful day and sampled some of the best ribs from all parts of the county.
The winners of the cookout — the Backyard Barbecue team — had never competed in the event before but had such a good time within a few hours that they knew they’d be back again.
Everybody else in the competition probably wishes they’d stay home next year, but chances are, the team will be back to defend its title.
The rib off is a highly-anticipated event every year, and it continues to grow. The reasons are obvious. Just about everybody loves ribs, but it’s also all for a good cause.
We’re already looking forward to next year.
