Competition proves Selma companies can compete with anyone

Robert Armstrong and G Mommas Cookies proved this week that companies from Selma can compete against anyone.

G Mommas Cookies won $107,000 in the Alabama Launchpad Startup Competition Thursday, besting four other businesses that were competing for part of $250,000. Armstrong is planning to use part of the money to start a new flavor of cookie — salted caramel.

During the competition, Armstrong had to make a pitch to the judges on his company and explain how they’d use the money if they won. Not surprisingly, Armstrong must’ve nailed the presentation, as G Mommas was one of the competition’s biggest winners. Two other companies also won money, but neither topped six figures.

G Mommas is now in more than 1,000 retailers nationwide and Armstrong is planning to expand that number even further.

Congratulations to Armstrong. All of his hard work continues to pay off and he continues to make Selma proud.
