Mitchell Earl Solomon

Mitchell Earl Solomon, passed away on March 15, 2017, at the age of 69.
He was the son of Aline “Pete” Burfitt and Willis Earl Solomon Jr. of Selma, who both preceded him in death.
He was the oldest of five siblings: Kay Solomon Hicks, Tim Solomon, Wes Allen Solomon (deceased) and Kathy Solomon Lee (deceased).
He is preceded in death by his wife, Melinda Solomon; and former wife, Phyllis Copeland; and survived by his former wife, Brenda Solomon.
He leaves behind his children, their spouses and his grandchildren, Margaret and Jim Steingraber; and their children, Brianna, Conner, Nicholas, and Mindy Jane; Christina Solomon Jordan; and her children, William O’Neal Solomon, Brianna Jordan and Courtney Jordan; Tia Solomon Wheeler; and her children, Kaylee Solomon and Jasmine Crowe; and Josh and Sarah Solomon; and his children, Lily and Josie.
He also leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews, and a grand nephew – his “hero” – Tyler Nevin.
Mitch was a truck driver known to many as “Poppa Bear.”
He leaves behind a legacy of hope for second chances and a legacy of justice.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help with memorial and cremation expenses, which can be sent to 415 Shawnee Dr., Wetumpka, AL, 36092.
A memorial will be held Sunday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army Fellowship Hall in Selma.
