Playground could use repairs

The city of Selma is working toward finishing Butterfly Park in the near future. The park will feature playground equipment and will feature a view of the river and Edmund Pettus Bridge.
If you haven’t been to Riverfront Park lately — site of where the playground is being put in — it appears a lot of the project is complete. The playground is lined off, as the city tries to keep people off of it until all the work is done.
Once it’s complete, we hope to see it full of smiling children. The playground is in an ideal location and will be great once it’s up and ready to go.
Meanwhile, one of the city’s other playgrounds at Bloch Park, could use some work.
Many of the swings at the park are broken or tattered and the equipment could use some touching up. Many people use Bloch Park to walk and get exercise throughout the week and the playground is often a popular spot for children.
We’re looking forward to seeing the completion of Butterfly Park, but we’d also like to see Bloch Park’s playground get some much needed tender love and care.
