The Humane Society of Central Alabama has really stepped up to help the dogs in Selma and unite them with new families.
Lynn Sanders, vice president and Kaye Knight, president of the Humane Society truly have a passion for the animals and that’s evident in the amount of time and effort they spend making sure every need is met.
Between the two, they have 20 years of volunteering service to the Selma Animal Shelter and the Humane Society, a task not to be taken lightly.
The two focus heavily on the adoptable dog program, where dogs are tested and treated for heart worms and other issues if needed and are spayed or neutered.
This is a great way of having the dogs ready to go to new homes already taken care of and just ready for some love.
The shelter has seen an increase in adoptions lately, as Sanders has worked to increase the social media side of things to let people know about the dogs that are looking for good homes.
One family even came all the way from Prattville to adopt a dog that had been through a lot on the streets, Princess.
It was really a pleasure to meet the family and see the love they had to give their new four-legged family member.
Sanders said that’s really what it’s all about, finding homes for the dogs and making both the family and the dog happy.
Selma’s Purrrfect Pals is also doing an excellent job of vetting the cats and kittens at the shelter and adopting them out to good homes.
Just last week, they had four feline friends to be adopted in one day.
These people truly care about the animals in Selma and willing to give up so much of their time to help out.
Although many have been adopted out, there are still plenty of cats and dogs looking fore their forever homes at the Selma Animal Shelter.
The Shelter is located at 206 Medical Center Parkway and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Dogs are $100 and cats are $50 to adopt.
