John Horace Ackerman, age 86, of Pell City, passed away Dec. 27, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Grace Ackerman; and first wife, Bernice Ackerman.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Ackerman; son, John Timothy (Pam) Ackerman; brother, Francis (Emily) Ackerman; sister, Mary (Howard) Preacher; grandchildren, Josh Ackerman, Billy (Andrea) Ackerman, Eric Ackerman, Michelle Ackerman, Christy (Joey) Foster, Valerie (David) Sanders and Amy Householder; and great-grandchildren, Jaylen Cobb, Skylar Williamson, Chloe Ackerman, Jacob Ackerman, Camryn Ackerman, Carter Gray, Taylor Gray, Kayla Householder, Kyle Householder, Caden Householder and Kyle Nickels.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Bumgardner officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12-1 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jim Robinson, Rick Goodwin, Frank Mitchell, Billy Ackerman, Eric Ackerman and Norman Copeland. Honorary pallbearers will be Hugo Smith, Bob Summers and Jim Gray.
