William Charles “Bill” Travis

William Charles “Bill” Travis, age 85, of Montgomery, passed away Dec. 21, 2016. Bill was an educator and college basketball coach in Alabama, Florida and Georgia and was also self-employed in his later years in Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie M. and Lorene Travis; sisters and brother-in-laws, Polly Ruff (Lowell) Hammond and Eunice (George) Henry, brother, Russell G. Travis; and step-son, Gary N. Carroll
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Travis; children, Keith (Cindy) Travis, Clint (Cheryl) Travis and Chris Travis; stepchildren, Steve Carroll, David Carroll and Kindle (Anthony) Robinson; 10 grandchildren; and three great -grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at 1 p.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with the Rev. John Brannon officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12-1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Keith Travis, Clint Travis, Chris Travis, Blane Travis, Brittan Travis, Dillan Travis, David Carroll, Joe Cates and Richard Kilgore.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.
