Still one more big shopping day this week

It’s already been a busy week and on Saturday, most of us will want to kick back and watch the Iron Bowl with friends and family. That’s understandable.
After all that turkey and stuffing, plus countless hours of shopping, it’s only human nature to be a little fatigued. But, Selma’s small businesses need you need to make one last shopping push for the week.
Small Business Saturday is today and 23 stores in Selma are taking part. It’s a day we’ve written about several times through the years and we’ve even harped on it this week, but we think it’s important enough to sound like a broken record.
Stores in Selma are going to be offering special discounts throughout the day and most of these shops have items you can’t find elsewhere. There are a lot of plusses about going to a large retailer for Black Friday and it’s understandable, but our small businesses have a lot to offer too.
Shopping local ensures the tax dollars from that sale stay here in Selma and Dallas County and help the community.
The good news is you can go shopping, support our local businesses, and watch the Iron Bowl on Saturday. The game doesn’t start until 2:30 p.m., meaning there’s plenty of time to get downtown to see what our local stores have to offer.
