A Selma woman is in critical condition after her husband allegedly shot her Tuesday night after an argument.
Roderick Rendell Pratt, 33, was arrested and charged with first-degree domestic violence assault.
According to Capt. Johnny King with the Selma Police Department, the shooting happened just after 10 p.m. at Valley Creek Homes on Dallas Avenue.
King said officers responded to the apartments at 10:21 p.m. in response to a gunshot victim.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a black female in her twenties with a gunshot wound.
“While conducting the investigation and checking for a suspect, officers discovered that the suspect was the victim’s husband,” King said.
Officers located Pratt near the apartment. According to King, the couple was arguing, and Pratt allegedly assaulted his wife and shot her.
The woman was transported to the Vaughan Regional Medical Center by ambulance and later transported to a medical facility outside of Dallas County.
King said the woman was in critical condition and is receiving further treatment and observation.
It is unclear where she was shot and what kind of weapon was used.
Pratt was being held in the Dallas County Jail without bond as of Wednesday afternoon.
His charge is a class A felony, which is punishable with 10 years to a life sentence in prison and fines up to $60,000 upon conviction.
