James Franklin “Sunshine” Tennimon

James Franklin “Sunshine” Tennimon, age 77, of Selma, passed away Nov. 6, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Inez Tennimon; brothers, Charles “Buddy,” Norman and Errol Lee Tennimon; and sister, Mary Ester Singleton.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Tennimon; children, Shelby Grantham and Derek Tennimon; grandchildren, Morgan, Garrett and Aiden; sister, Darlene Tennimon; brothers-in-law, Don Singleton and Doug Morris; sisters-in-law, Tommie Sue Tennimon and Marie Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Parrish High School and went on to serve four years in the Air Force before coming home to Selma. He retired from the U.S. Post Office after 25 years. He also retired from the Alabama National Guard after serving 25 years. He was deployed in Desert Storm/Shield in 1990. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, serving at various posts at the American Legion Thomas Mackin Post 20 and volunteering anywhere he saw a need.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at 1 p.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with the Rev. Cory Horton officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12-1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion.
