Bush Hog and Swift Drug celebrated important milestones on Wednesday. Both businesses have a lot to be proud of after incredible years in Selma.
Swift Drug celebrated 100 years with its own party for employees and customers. Congresswoman Terri Sewell gave a proclamation and owner Buddy Swift was given several awards.
Down the road at Bush Hog, the company marked 65 years of manufacturing its product in Selma with a birthday bash for employees. Bush Hog employees put an old metal sign, football rankings, photos of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump and copies of Bush Hog newsletters into a time capsule, which will be opened up in a decade.
Who knows how different the world will look then, when the time capsule is reopened. The one thing that appears to be a certainty is that both Bush Hog and Swift Drug will be assisting customers in Selma during that time and continuing on each company’s legacy.
It’s a lot of work to keep a business running for even just one year and it’s not easy.
Both Bush Hog and Swift Drug should be saluted for their accomplishments and for making a difference as local businesses here in Selma.
