Old Cahawba Archaeological Park provides authentic fun during haunting season

Old Cahawba is a special place to be, and there is something even more special about being there at night during their annual Haunted History Tours.
The park is open during the day most days of the year, but there are only two opportunities a year to enjoy it at night, which is when the park really comes to life with all of its ghost tales.
The last chance to see the park at night this year is tomorrow, so anyone who hasn’t been already should take the opportunity to purchase a ticket and go see it for themselves.
It is an experience unlike any other. Linda Derry and the others that put on the tour each year do a great job of researching Old Cahawba’s history and telling guests about their past. It’s exciting to walk through the cemetery and hear the tales of some of the people buried there, and it may even be a little spooky.
There is just something about being out there at night knowing the history that took place on those hallowed grounds. Even for those that don’t believe in ghosts, it’s an opportune time to hear from the grounds keepers and the people that run the park about its rich history.
If you haven’t already, tickets can be purchased online on “Selma’s Haunted History Tour” Facebook page. Tickets are $20 per person and tours are very limited.
The money goes back to Old Cahawba, which is in the process of uncovering ruins of the structures that once stood there.
