The YMCA of Selma-Dallas County is giving parents a chance to take a night off.
The YMCA will host Kids Night Out on Oct. 22 from 6-8:30 p.m. for children ages 5-12 years old. Children will get to swim, play in the gym, make crafts and eat snacks while parents get the chance to go out for a nice dinner or relax for a few hours.
“We haven’t done a Kids Night Out in a long time so we’re looking forward to Saturday night and trying to have some fun things for the kids to do,” said Stacey Buchanan, the YMCA’s program expansion and support coordinator.
With Halloween right around the corner, the YMCA is welcoming any child to dress up in their costumes.
“It is right here close to Halloween, so if the kids want to dress up for Halloween, we are going to try to have some decorations out,” Buchanan said.
She said if there is a large turnout, the YMCA will look into hosting a Kids Night Out once a month.
The cost is $10 per child. Call the YMCA at 874-9622 or 874-5205 to register for the Kids Night Out.
The YMCA is also currently holding registration for basketball through Nov. 11 for children in kindergarten-sixth grade. Required evaluation days will be held Monday, Nov. 14 and Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Players cannot turn 13 prior to Aug. 1, 2017. The cost is $45 for members and $65 for non-members. Cheerleading registration ends on Oct. 28. The YMCA’s cheer program is for ages 5-12 and the cost is $90 for members and $119 for non-members.
