A Selma man was arrested earlier this week for allegedly robbing a bank at gunpoint last month in Marion.
Jabrell Keon Bell, 24, was arrested by U.S. Marshals Tuesday and charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree robbery.
Perry County Sheriff Billy Jones said Bell was given a bond Friday morning of $500,000.
Jones said the robbery happened Sept. 14 at West Alabama Bank.
“It was around 10:55 a.m. that morning when one black male entered the bank with a disguise on his face with fake sideburns. He had a weapon in his hand,” Jones said.
Jones said investigators believe Bell was the first suspect to walk into the bank that morning.
“He was in the bank for approximately 15 seconds before a second subject entered the bank,” Jones said.
“He (the second suspect) had something tied around his face, and he jumped the counter. He started getting money out of the drawers, and then he got one of the tellers and went into the vault.”
Jones said both suspects then fled the scene with a large amount of money.
“We’re not sure if the second guy had a weapon, but it appeared that Bell had a handgun,” Jones said.
Warrants have been signed for the other suspect that entered the bank and the getaway driver, according to Jones. Both will be charged with the same three charges as Bell.
“We’re still looking for the other two,” Jones said.
“We had to have reasonable cause to do the warrants, and then the evidence that we gathered was enough cause for us to get warrants on these suspects.”
Jones said they know who the other two suspects are, and are getting assistance from the U.S. Marshals and the Fourth Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force to track them down.
Jones said this was the first bank robbery he has seen in Marion in his 23 years there.
“I’ve been here since 1993, and I know we haven’t had a bank robbery in Marion in 23 years,” Jones said.
