Police say man shot while trying to break up fight

A 21-year-old Selma man was shot early Thursday morning after breaking up a fight, according to Lt. Sam Miller with the Selma Police Department.
According to Miller, officers responded to Vaughan Regional Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim, who was shot in the shoulder.
“The victim was able to identify the shooter as Ladarrius Benjamin Parker,” Miller said in a press release.
The victim told officers he was trying to break up a fight between two females when Parker allegedly shot him.
Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said the shooting happened on Old Montgomery Highway.
Parker was arrested Thursday afternoon after he was involved with a second shooting.
According to Miller, Parker suffered minor injuries after being shot at.
According to the release, Parker told officers he was walking down Lauderdale Street near Sixth Avenue when someone shot at him.
Parker suffered minor injuries and was arrested after being treated at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Parker was charged with first-degree assault and given no bond.
He is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail.
