Four car accident shuts down Edmund Pettus Bridge

A four-car accident shut down traffic on the Edmund Pettus Bridge Saturday around 12:30 p.m. At least four people were put on stretchers and transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

The accident happened on Selmont side of the bridge headed into Selma.

The Selma fire and police departments responded to the accident, along with Care Ambulance.

According to someone who witnessed the wreck, there was a funeral procession coming over the bridge when the accident happened.

It is unclear at this time what caused the wreck.

The Selma Police Department is investigating the accident.
