Meadowview Christian’s second 8-man football game of the year went much better than the first.

The Trojans still ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard, falling 40-20 at New Life Christian, but there were positives to take away. Meadowview led 14-8 at halftime and also showed a progressing passing game, an element the Trojans lacked offensively last year.

Meadowview quarterback Jeremy Lee tossed three touchdown passes, including two to Mason Kendrick. Chambers McGilberry caught the other touchdown.

“We’ve been working real hard on the passing game, especially for our 6-man stuff. We’re young this year so we don’t have that power running game we had last year,” said Meadowview coach Lebo Jones. “We’ve worked a lot on passing the last three weeks and it’s starting to pay off.”

Kendrick had 74 total yards, with 54 rushing and 25 receiving.

Jones said it was a much better effort than the team’s 34-0 loss to Victory in an 8-man game to begin the year.

“We didn’t quit and we played hard and competed,” Jones said. “It was neck and neck until halfway through the fourth quarter. We just kind of ran out of gas.”

Jon Ryan Szymanski had 10 tackles to lead the Meadowview defense.

The Trojans (1-3) will play at Cahawba Christian next week.
