Georgia Hancock Lewis

Georgia Hancock Lewis passed away at her home in Selma, in the early morning hours of Sept. 10, 2016, at the age of 98, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 28, 1918, to Gertrude Overstreet and Alfred Ellis in Danville, Kentucky.  She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Hancock and her late husband Benjamin P Lewis.

She is survived by her 4 children, Don [Pat] Hancock, [Brenda Birchfield Hancock], Carolyn [Dan] Hancock Edwards, Charlotte [Lee] Lewis Pickering, Benjamin P. [Patsy] Lewis, Jr.; her nine grandchildren, Donnie Hancock, Kevin [Cindy] Hancock, Kimberly [Adam] Bosch, Kelly Hancock, Lesley [Randy] O’Kelley, Christy [Randy] Morrison, Richard [Tamra] Pickering, Jr., Laura [Matt] Daugherty, Jason [Kelly] Lewis; her 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 12:30 -1:30 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery, with the Rev. Guy Anderson and her grandson Richard Pickering, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be Donnie Hancock, Kevin Hancock, Richard Pickering, Jr., Jacob Felts, Parker Duke and Jeremiah Bennett. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Homestead Hospice; and a special thank you to Julia Williams.
