Race a chance for Selma to give back

We’ve written at length about the positive work that Integrity Worldwide is doing over in Meto, Kenya, but that work just keeps expanding.

The group just returned from its most recent trip to Meto, where it held a 5K race for Selma. Hundreds of students took part in that race, paying only a registration fee of a blessing to Selma. The group also saw the ground breaking for a new medical clinic, which will be a much needed asset for the area.

In just a few weeks, Integrity will hold its annual Run for Kenya here in Selma.

The race will again include a 5K, 10K and 1-mile fun run and will take place in historic downtown Selma.

Registration is underway now and will continue until race day on Oct. 8, but Sept. 24 is the deadline for anyone that wants to ensure they get a T-shirt in the correct size.

The race has become one of the most anticipated events in Selma each year, including winning the vote for Event of the Year the last two years.

We encourage those in Selma to take part in this year’s race. Not only is it a great way to spend a Saturday morning, but proceeds from the race benefit people in a country thousands of miles away — people that could really use our help.
