An early Thursday morning crash near Safford claimed the life of a Pine Hill man.

Kenneth Dwayne Blount, 48, was killed when the 2006 Kenworth tractor-trailer he was driving left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree.

The accident happened on Alabama 5 near the 37-mile marker, six miles west of Orrville.

Blount, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Alabama State Troopers.

The accident remains under investigation.
