During football season, building a game plan and sticking to it is the key to success, but that kind of dedication works on and off the field.
Selma’s Diabetes Support Group will talk to people about building a game plan for life next week — one that it hopes will help those battling diabetes.
The meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 29 at 9:30 a.m. at The Dallas County Health Department. The topic of the meeting will be “Developing A Winning Game Plan,” an effort to teach people how to stick to a plan that will assist them in managing their diabetes.
Participants will also learn about making healthy food choices, staying hydrated, exercising more, etc. There will also be taste testing as well as recipe sharing.
Callie Nelson, who is organizing the event, said that the main goal of the support group is to give people the chance to get information on how to manage their diabetes.
“We want to be able to help people get back on track,” Nelson said.
According to The Alabama Department of Health, approximately 434,800 Alabamians have been diagnosed with diabetes.
“I just want to share information with people to help them to be able to have a better quality of life,” Nelson said.
