Several local restaurants are participating in the inaugural Selma Restaurant Week, which continues through Sunday, Aug. 21.

The Alabama Department of Tourism annually hosts Alabama Restaurant Week, but for the first time they have encouraged local areas to establish their own programs.

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to attract visitors to our local eateries while reminding locals of the variety of dining options available right here at home,” said Landon Nichols, destination/marketing coordinator for the Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Information.

There are no coupons or discount books to buy or bring. Diners simply ask for a Selma Restaurant Week meal at a participating restaurant during the promotion time period and enjoy.

With the promotion’s pre-set prices, people know before making plans exactly what their cost will be.

There are a host of Selma area restaurants participating, including:

American Wings & Seafood

Charlie’s Place

The Downtowner

Mr. Waffle

The Pink Box Bakery

Tally Ho

EvMarie’s Cupcakery

A map of participating restaurants, along with their weeklong specials, are listed on the website www.alabamarestaurantweek.com with exact meal offerings once they are known.

Restaurant Week pricing is fixed at $10, $20 or $30 for dinner and $5, $10 or $15 for lunch.

In all cases, the price is per person and does not include tax, tip and drink. Restaurants may offer a meal at all or just one of the preset prices. A restaurant’s regular menu will also be available.
