Alice Hamilton Lyon, 89, resident of Camden, died on Aug. 2, 2016.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Collirene on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Chris Wells officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Collirene Cemetery.

Mrs. Lyon is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lyon; her father, John Floyd Hamilton; and her mother Cecile Jacobs Hamilton.

She is survived by her children, Edward Isaac (Anne) Lyon, Rosanne Lyon (Randy) Wiggins and John Alfred (Mary) Lyon; five grandchildren, Jacob Anderson (Erin) Lyon, Philip Hamilton (Druann) Lyon, Samuel Edward (Brookelyne) Lyon, Lauren Wiggins (Josh) Dorminey and Elizabeth Grace Smith.

Alice has one brother, John F. (Leah) Hamilton Jr.; one sister, Anne H. Parker; and many nieces and nephews.

Lyon attended Inverness School, Judson College, Auburn University and Troy University.  She taught music and elementary education in Birmingham, Columbus, Georgia, and in Dallas and Lowndes County schools.

Her pallbearers will be Duke Logan, Bill Lyon, Jacob Lyon, Philip Lyon, Samuel Lyon, Stephen Parker, Kenneth Parker and Scott Hamilton.

Directions to the church from U.S. Highway 80 near Benton is to turn south on Lowndes County Highway 9 and go approximately nine miles to the Collirene community. Turn right on Lowndes County Highway 12 for a half mile. Bethany Baptist Church is on the left.
