A job fair next week will give job seekers a chance to explore several opportunities.
The Dallas County Children’s Policy Council is hosting a job fair Thursday, June 30 from 1-4 p.m. at the Carl C. Convention Center.
The job fair is a partnership between the council and the Fatherhood Initiative, Dallas County Family Resource Center, Alabama Career Center System and the Dallas County Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
Some of the participating companies include: Vaughan Regional Medical Center, Concordia College Alabama, Wallace Community College Selma, Selma University, Wells Fargo Bank, International Paper, Bush Hog Inc, Army National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Navy, among others.
Attendees are asked to dress professionally and bring a resume, if they have one.
The Children’s Policy Council hopes that bringing a variety of employers in one place will make applying for jobs more convenient and easier.
“We see the need for people of Selma to know where the jobs are and to make these jobs more accessible,” Family Resource Center’s case manager and job fair organizer Lyndi Bradley said.
Bradley said she hopes those looking for employment will find a job at the fair.
“I think one of the main issues in Selma is that people say that there’s no jobs, and we want to show that there are indeed jobs here,” Bradley said. “With this job fair, we want to show that people are hiring. We want people to be able to support their families.”
