Missing Selma woman is safe and in Washington D.C. area

Local law enforcement said a missing 73-year-old Selma resident has been found safe.
Leola Hunter was reported safe by family members, according to the Selma Police Department’s Sgt. Evelyn Ghant.
“They advised that she had been found in Washington D.C. and everything was OK with her,” Ghant said.
Local authorities have since cancelled the area’s be on the lookout or BOLO for Hunter.
On Tuesday, June 7, Hunter was reported missing by Dallas County DHR to Selma Police.
She had last been seen Friday, June 3 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
The next day, DHR workers went by Hunter’s home to check on her but found the door open and the home empty, according to authorities.
In a previous report, the SPD’s Lt. Sam Miller said Hunter had made several attempts in the past to go to Washington D.C. to contact an ex-husband.
“Our adult protective cases are protected by confidentially,” said Barry Spear, Alabama DHR public information officer. “Legally we cannot comment.”
