Valley Grande youth champions crowned

Braves players sprinted toward their dugout to celebrate when they realized they had won a league title. Despite only winning a couple games in the regular season, the Braves won the biggest games when it counted most.
The Braves scored seven runs in the first inning to beat the Mets 12-5 in the 10-and-under Valley Grande coach-pitch baseball league Saturday at the Valley Grande Sportsplex.
John Braxton Hall and Logan Shoultz each scored three runs to lead the Braves.
“It feels really good to win a championship when you’ve tried really hard at practice,” Shoultz said.
Dodgers 13, Yankees 12 (tee-ball)
The temperature was above 90 degrees, but it didn’t stop the 3-5 year-olds on the Valley Grande Dodgers and Yankees tee-ball teams to fight until the very end.
Trailing 12-11 going into the final inning, the Dodgers Dailan Ford hit an in-the-park home run to to tie the game and Ellie Carroll scored the game-winning run.
“The first game they played, they were about ready to pass out, so I’m proud of them,” said Dodgers coach James Roberts.
