Taylor Internal Medicine and The Selma Times-Journal are teaming up for a health fair this weekend.
The event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Selma Mall and will be hosted by motivational speaker Marilyn Brown.
Patricia Cockrell is coordinating the health fair and said Taylor Internal Medicine is looking forward to giving people information to improve their health.
“I hope that participants gain day-to-day information regarding health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart attacks, strokes, etc,” Cockrell said.
The health fair will provide free blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, HIV testing, hearing tests and more.
Various health organizations will participate, including Amedisis Home Health, Gentiva Home Health, Sarrell Dental Center, Selma AIR, Taylor Internal Medicine Weight Loss, the YMCA of Selma-Dallas County, Save A Life and others.
“Our main goal is to give back to the community,” Cockrell said.
Various door prizes will be given away throughout the event.
In addition to the health information, there will also be an antique car show and various performers from local choirs and gospel groups. Some of the choirs participating include St. Paul Community Methodist Church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, New Cedar Grove Baptist Church, and Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
There will also be a special appearance from the Ladies of Rhythm and the Eye Candy Dazzling Divas.
