Youth roundup: baseball and softball scores from May 7 and 9

EDITOR’S NOTE: Here are more game recaps from games played as part of the Selma Recreation Department youth baseball and softball leagues. These recaps are provided by the recreation department and published as often as possible.

Neely Charter 10, Wood Orthodontics 1 (9-10)

Seven players scored runs to lead Neely Charter past Wood Orthodontics 10-1. Jason Rogers Jr., Cameron Ford, Joshua Palmer, Quinderius Chambers, Sharod Martin, Omarion Palmer and KeAundre Sharpe each scored for Neely Charter. DeAndre Chestnut scored Wood Orthodontics’ only run.

 

KFC 15, Frazer Group 7 (9-10)

Joshua Davis III’s three runs paced KFC past Frazer Group 15-7. TyShawn McGuire, Mi’Uhon Callen, Byron Oliver, JaTavious McGraw and Jordan Lamar all scored two runs for KFC, while Tariq Mangram and Javarius Marks added one run apiece. Frazer Group’s Jack Whiddon and Marquarius Reese scored two runs each, and Frederick Gilmore, Shamar Jones and George Fails scored once.

 

Blue Ox 19, Taylor Sports 6 (11-12)

Five Blue Ox players scored three runs to lead their team over Taylor Sports 19-6. Tamija Stallworth, Kennedy Thicklin, Sa’Niya Byrd, Makayla Stallworth and Shalencia Coleman all crossed home plate three times each, Lashora Gordon scored twice and Ashlee Stubbs and Adrionna Powell scored one time each. Coleman hit one home run and Byrd hit two home runs. For Taylor Sports, Hayden Primm scored twice, while JaNya Howards, Thi’niria Martin, Karnesha Gibson and Triniti Jones reached home once.

 

Sierra Mist 9, American Legion 8 (9-10)

Sierra Mist scored three runs in the first inning, two runs in the second inning and four runs in the fifth inning to beat American Legion 9-8. American Legion posted four runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning. No individual statistics were provided for the game.

 

First Cahawba Bank 19, Cougar Chevron 3 (9-10)

First Cahawba Bank scored five runs in the first inning, three in the second inning, four in the third inning and seven in the fourth inning to beat Cougar Chevron 19-3. Cougar Chevron scored two runs in the second inning and one run in the fourth inning. No individual statistics were provided for the game.

 

Civitan Club 7, Selma Cash and Carry 3 (9-10)

Civitan Club scored four first-

inning runs and three fourth-inning runs to beat Selma Cash and Carry 7-3. Selma Cash and Carry scored its only three runs in the first inning. No individual statistics were provided for the game.

 

Cougar Chevron 8, Woodmen of the World 5 (9-10)

Cougar Chevron scored three runs in the first inning, two runs in the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning to beat Woodmen of the World 8-5. Woodmen of the World scored two runs in the second innings, one in the third inning and two runs in the fifth inning. No individual statistics were provided for the game.

 

Bent Tree 12, VFW 11 (11-12)

Bent Tree scored the game winning run in the fifth inning to defeat Bent Tree 12-11. Cobb Beers scored two runs to lead the way for Bent Tree. Matthew King, Noah Smith, Robert Moore, Clay Beers, Steven McCullough, Matthew Wright, Ronnie James, Caleb Hopkins, John Autery and Nathan Johnson scored for Bent Tree. Arthur Vaughan, Kenneth Dukes, Jarius Walker, Kenan Swanson, Davis Vardaman, Khylar Bishop, Joshua McClellan and Kassas Robinson scored for VFW.

 

May 9

Cougar Chevron 14, Frasier-Ousley13 (11-12)

Cougar Chevron’s Dasha Smith hit a home run in a 14-13 win over Frasier-Ousley. Jeshya Collier, RiKyah Chappell, Dashiya Gordon and Carliyah Donaldson each scored twice for Cougar Chevron. TyTianna Johnson and Tykera Bates scored one run for Cougar Chevron.

Frasier-Ousley had five players score two times, including Anna Small, Hope Smith, Ashley McPhillips, Kaylin Stanberry and Rebecca Manning. Anne Hagood, Dayton Rader and Linda Acoff scored once.

 

Frazer Group 7, Wood Orthodontics 4 (9-10)

Frazer Group scored seven fourth-inning runs to beat Wood Orthodontics 7-4, as Jalen Prince, Aiden Foley, Marquarius Reese, Barron Frazer, Jack Whiddon, Harrison Jones and Shamar Jones all scored. For Wood Orthodontics, Jack Johnson, Presley Fancher, Milton Hand and Christian McPhillips reached home plate.

 

Lion’s Club 14, Smitherman Bros. 9  (9-10)

Ta’Karrius Edwards, John McClure, Rasheed Johnson and Jadarius Lewis all scored twice to lead Selma Lion’s Club past Smitherman Bros. 14-9. Seir Blake, Titus Lanier, Gershawn Moore, Jackson Foley and Brandon Holt all scored once for Selma Lion’s Club.

For Smitherman Bros., Tristan Smitherman and LeMarcus Milhouse scored two times, while Amarii Rucker, JaQuan Pierre, Charles Humphreys and Colton Baggerly crossed home plate one time apiece.

 

First Cahawba Bank 12, American Legion 0 (7-8) 

Jaidyn Dixon, Christy Hasberry and Olivia Stone all scored three runs to give First Cahawba Bank a 12-0 win over American Legion. Jamesha Prevo scored twice and Jaikira Colvin scored once.

 

Sierra Mist 18, Cougar Chevron 5 (7-8) 

Jaden McGee and Breanna Bennett scored three times apiece to lead Sierra Mist to an 18-5 win over Cougar Chevron. Kensley Browder, Marianna Drammeh and Kalexis Cole scored twice for Sierra Mist.

MarTasis Hardy, Amirrah Brown, MaAliyah Matthews and Jalasiah Sutterwhite each scored once. For Cougar Chevron, Chasidy Dennis scored twice, and Clara Lockhart, Ashanti Davis and Karyah Reynolds crossed home plate one time each.

 

Bent Tree 5, Mee Too 4 (11-12)

Bent Tree squeaked by Mee Too 5-4. Cobb Beers, Noah Smith, Nathan Johnson, Trent Mims and Clay Beers scored one run apiece for Bent Tree. Benjamin Feister, Matthew Hand, Derrick Brown and Christopher Ezelle scored a run apiece for Mee Too.

 

Trustmark 10, Robinson Legal 0 (7-8)

Trustmark scored six runs in the fourth inning to pull away from Robinson Legal in a 10-0 win. Frederick Gilmore, Matthew Cobb, Jarron Stallworth, Andrew Arrington, Braden Little, Patrick Johnson and Myles Nix scored for Trustmark in the win.
