Mr. John Ross Long, age 88, of Selma, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Heritage Health Care and rehab in Tuscaloosa.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 25 at Sardis Baptist Church near Rockford with the Rev. Ira Blanchard officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. He will lie in-state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 24 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Long of Houston and Phillip Long of Tuscaloosa; three grandchildren, Trenton Long of Tuscaloosa, Joshua Long of Austin and Lillian Pardo Long of Tuscaloosa; and one great -grandchild: Eli Long of Austin.

He is also survived by his brother, David Long; sister, Mary Ann Kelber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evie Howell Long; parents, Dr. John Reed Long and Annie Ross Long; and his step-mothe, Lilian Long.

Pallbearers will be Trenton Long, Joshua Long, Jimmy Howell, Joseph Howell, Geoffrey Healan and Barney Brown.
