The Dallas County Hornets baseball team (10-8) defeated the Verbena Red Devils 16-2 Tuesday.

Hunter Skinner walked in the second inning, and came around to score to take a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Skinner and Josh Haskell added two more runs in the fourth inning to grab a 3-0 lead, but Verbena added two runs in the fourth inning to narrow the lead to 3-2.

The Hornets ran away with the game in the final two innings. In the fifth inning, Josh Lester, Gabe Denson, David Robertson and Haskell each scored to put Dallas County ahead 7-2. Nearly the entire Dallas County lineup scored in the sixth inning, and the Hornets cruised to victory.

 

Glenwood 2, Morgan 1 (soccer)

The Morgan Academy boys’ soccer team (4-10) saw its season end in a 2-1 loss at Glenwood Academy in the first round of the Alabama Independent School Association playoffs. Diyan Patel scored the lone goal for the Senators in the loss.
