Kenneth “Kembo” Walthal Barlow Sr.

Kenneth Walthal Barlow Sr. “Kembo” age 71 of Camden died at home Saturday, March 19, 2016. He was born September 19, 1944, in Selma. He graduated from Moore Academy in 1962 and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from Auburn University in 1967.

Mr. Barlow went on to pursue his career in various areas of government, eventually retiring from the United States Postal Service as postmaster of Pine Apple after 30 years of devoted service to his community. In addition to his government employment, Mr. Barlow also enjoyed his tree farm and his small business, Barlow Outdoor Structures.

Despite his dedication to his career, Mr. Barlow’s primary joy in life was his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Barlow Sr. and his mother, Sarah Kathryn Barlow. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Sue Barlow; his two sons, Kenneth Walthal (Angie) Barlow Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Dr. M. Kevin (Laura) Barlow of Griffin, Georgia; his grandchildren, Lizzy and Trey Barlow; and his brothers Dr. Robert Barlow Jr. and Dan Barlow. He was a member of Camden United Methodist Church.

Mr. Barlow was well loved in his community and will be missed by his family and many friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at Palmer Cemetery with pastor Brian Dovey officiating and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home of Camden directing.
