Friday is the last day to register to vote in the March 1 Primary Election.

Eligible non-voters may download a registration form online at www.alabamavotes.gov to mail to their local boards of registrars’ office or visit the registrars’ office in person during their office hours.

The Dallas County Board of Registrars office is located in the Dallas County Courthouse.

The telephone number is (334) 874-2534, and the mailing address is P.O. Box 987, Selma, Alabama 36702.

Secretary of State John Merrill’s office launched earlier this year a new online voting registration site at www.alabamavotes.gov.

The site makes Alabama the 32nd state to offer online voter registration.

Individuals can visit the site, provide the required information and data will be sent to your county registrar’s office.

Voters can also print out an application online and mail it or present it in person to the Board of Registrars.

The site also allows individuals to check and see where they are registered to vote at a particular polling place.

Although the deadline for voting in Alabama’s March 1 primary will be Feb. 12, the last day for voters to register for the Nov. 8 General Election, which will include the office of President, is Oct. 24.

In Alabama, voters must be U.S. citizens who reside in Alabama, be at least 18 years of age, not have been convicted of a disqualifying felony and not been legally declared mentally incompetent by a court.
