Time is running out to sign up for trash pickup

Time is running short for those that still have not registered for garbage services with Sea Coast Disposal.

The city and Sea Coast Disposal have given Selma residents ample opportunity to register for services through town hall meetings and sign-up days in each ward throughout the city.

However, life gets busy sometimes. Many of us have a tendency to wait until the last minute so that we can focus on closer deadlines.

Well, Sea Coast’s deadline is almost here.

For anyone who expects to get their trash picked up in February, the deadline to register is Jan. 14. Payment is not required when registering initially, but $40 must be paid by Jan. 14.

Sea Coast will begin delivering carts Jan. 15 to registered customers.

Registration for Ward 7 took place Saturday at R.B. Hudson, meaning only one registration day remains. It’ll be held on Jan. 9 at Sophia P. Kingston Elementary School, located at 2224 Selma Avenue from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

There are also three town hall meetings upcoming for those who need more information.

The first is Monday evening at 6 p.m. at Payne Elementary School, located at 1529 Franklin Street.

Another meeting will be held Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. at Morgan Academy, which is located at 2901 West Dallas Ave. The final town hall meeting will be held Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. at R. B. Hudson Middle School.

Anyone that wants to register can also go by Sea Coast’s temporary office located at 521 Bell Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to register. Sea Coast plans to be in a permanent office, located at 212-B Highland Avenue, soon.

We encourage anyone who still hasn’t registered to do so as soon as possible. The final day to register is probably going to be a popular one.
