Helen Peterson Yeargan

Helen Peterson Yeargan, 90, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 12, 2015, surrounded by her family.

Born Sept. 20, 1925, in Selma to Laura Helen and Moton Henry Peterson she was a radiant Christian and loving example to her family. She was a lifelong member of Church Street United Methodist Church. She had the hands and the heart of a servant and touched many lives and left many cherished memories.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Thomas and Moton Peterson; and her sister, Frances Sanderson.

She is survived by two children, Dean Yeargan McNeely (Jim) and Jim Yeargan; seven grandchildren, Josh McNeely (Jennifer), Jake McNeely (Angel), Jamie McNeely, Helen McNeely Hall (Carson), Burton Yeargan (Heather), Laura Yeargan Bohannon (Brad) and Kathryn Yeargan Cooper (Brad); eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Gunnar and Josie McNeely, Maggie Hall, Adrian Yeargan, Shayla, Bubba and Anthony Lake; one great-great-grandchild, Bradley Hester.

Services will be held at Church Street United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. Visitation with family will begin at noon. Pallbearers will be Helen’s grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blue Lake Methodist Camp, 8500 Oakwood Lane, Andalusia, AL, 36420.
