Karim Oaks, director of instruction at Morgan Academy, was inducted into the Alabama Independent School Association Hall of Fame Monday evening at a banquet in Montgomery.
Oaks first stepped into the halls of Morgan Academy as a first grader and graduated from the school in 1979. Nine years later, she joined the school as a part-time teacher.
In the time since, she has become a full-time instructor and has worked with Morgan’s cheerleading squad, scholars bowl and is now working with the Student Government Association.
Oaks’ passion and dedication to Morgan Academy make her well-deserving of her spot in the AISA Hall of Fame.
“I am pretty excited,” Oaks said. “I’ve had a few exciting days leading up to this. A lot of people have wished me well and they’ve showered me with flowers and candy and gifts. It’s been kind of nice just to hear from people to let me know that I’ve meant something to them and their families and their children.”
We would like to congratulate Karim on her induction and thank her for the time she’s spent teaching some of the young people in Selma through the years.
