The Alabama Career Center System is partnering with Perry County Schools to host a job fair on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
This effort is the fourth of a series of job fairs scheduled in areas with high unemployment rates. Perry County’s current unemployment rate is 9.5 percent.
“We are making an effort to reach out to citizens in counties like Perry County where the unemployment rate is still higher than the rest of the state,” said Fitzgerald Washington, commissioner of the Alabama Department of Labor.
Staff from the Selma Career Center will be available to assist jobseekers and offer career placement and educational services. The mobile Career Center unit will also be available so that participants can have access to the internet and register for JobLink, the state’s free online jobs database.
The job fair will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Frances Marion High School located at 101 Hubbard Dr., Marion, AL 36756 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Employers who are scheduled to attend the job fair include: Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Westervelt, Harvest Select and about 10 others.
